I happened to find plantain in the supermarket but you can use saba bananas to make this very simple dessert. You will need less honey though as saba bananas are much sweeter than plantain.
I used walnuts but you can substitute whatever nut you prefer or have in your pantry. Most people have a supply of honey at home but if you don’t even maple-flavored pancake syrup will do.

This delicious dessert takes ten minutes to prepare and only four ingredients are used. Seriously.
The following recipe serves two. Just double the amount of ingredients if you are feeding more people.
Ingredients:
2 ripe plantains, cut in half vertically
2 tbsps. of butter
2 tbsps. of chopped walnuts
about 4 tbsps. of honey

Heat a frying pan and dry roast the nuts. Transfer to a plate. Wipe the pan clean.
Melt the butter in the frying pan. Over medium heat, fry the sliced plantains until lightly browned, flipping them over for even cooking.
Arrange two slices of fried plantain on a plate, drizzle honey over and around them. Sprinkle with the chopped nuts.

Plaintains are easier to find in our stores here siguro dahil sa high concentration of Hispanics. I always keep a ready supply at home dahil easy to zap sa microwave with skin on pag kailangan nang quick snack. But my fave take on this is frying them golden then serving with sour cream (or crema mexicana, if available) and refried black beans. Out of this world! Learned this from an El Salvadorean friend of mine.
Will try your recipe right now, have all the ingredients! Canlt wait!
I have three plantains left and two cans of refried beans. Easy enough to make sour cream. I think I’ll your version.
Hi, I always see plantains sa s&r. does it taste more like potatoes ba than bananas? and di ba siya matigas? dali lang po ba lutuin? thanks
Hindi matigas. Texture is like saba banana but plantain isn’t sweet and can withstand prolonged cooking.
