Even without any official announcement, I know that summer is here. I’ve written two articles today and, while writing them, all I could think of was ice-cold halo-halo. In fact, I’ve been thinking of halo-halo since yesterday. My family went to see a movie and I kept scanning the restaurants for any that offered halo-halo while my younger daughter kept talking about maiz con hielo. I didn’t find any, I’m still thinking of something cold to combat the heat and humidity, and I came across this two-month old photo of strawberry ice cream in my hard drive.

The great news is we do have ice cream in the freezer so I don’t have to content myself with staring at this photo.
The bad news is that, according to science, eating ice cream will just make me feel warmer because it’ll require a lot of metabolic processes to digest all that sugar and cream.
Maybe I’ll have corn slushie instead. With skim milk.

it is still cold in Dubai but summer months are coming. Last night we had avocado mixed with milk and sugar and chilled on the freezer, tonight will have banana con hielo, the corn slushie is a good idea as i have a can of maiz in the fridge as well. I am at the office right now, natakam tuloy ako sa ice mo Ms. C meron kasi sa bahay di ko pa lng sinisimulan kainin.
Umpisahan na hehehehe
Science can be such a killjoy! No matter, I would still go ahead and indulge in ice cream. But now that you’ve mentioned it, I would love a nice, tall glass of halo-halo, topped with ube ice cream and leche flan. It’s kind of hard to get all the right ingredients here in Minnesota, but it would be worth the effort!
